Serge Dehaes

Serge Dehaes (°1964) is a graphic designer who taught visual communication at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Brussels before setting up as a freelance illustrator.

His first children's book, "On ira à Mopti", was published by Labor in 1998. This was followed by "Mon petit oiseau", published in Switzerland by La Joie de Lire, and "Les plus beaux bisous du monde", also published in Switzerland by Yvette. Philippe Geluck's colourist since 1990, he works on the "Le Fils du Chat" series published by Casterman.

As a press cartoonist, his drawings have appeared in La Libre Belgique, Le Soir, La dernière Heure, L'Echo, Le droit de l'employé, L'Info CSC, Trends Tendances, Flair, Metro, Fluide Glaciale and Spirou.

His comics work includes "Manager, mode d'emploi" (Fluide Glacial), "Frères siamois" (Paquet) and "Mademoiselle F" (Lombard).

As a self-publisher, he has published several art books in conjunction with exhibitions of original drawings. His favourite subjects are jazz iconography, the human body and urban sketching. His work has been exhibited at Galerie Image2, Théâtre national, Galerie Le magasin en papier, Théâtre Marni, Galerie Arts Factory, Librairie Ramd'Âme, Jazz9, Galerie Huberty Breyne, Galerie de l'A2, Pavillon du cartoonfestival de Knokke-Heist, La maison de l'image, Galerie Lierhmann, Librairie Peinture Fraîche, espace d'art Le Neuf, Galerie Fracas and Galerie de l'A2.
