KARL (Karl Meersman °1961) is home editor of Trends Magazine since 1987 and of Focus Knack since 2002.

In 2022, he decided to stick to one deadline a week.

He soon gained fame as a graphic artist but was more attracted to caricatures or piercing portraits. He was noticed as a street artist by Roularta Media Group.

At Roularta Books, he published 6 books. At Hannibal Books 2 and even a couple of children's books at Afijn and Infodok. Unfortunately, all books are currently out of print.

KARL regularly exhibits his work at home and abroad: such as in New York, London, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg... He has won awards with posters for Unesco and the Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi in Bologna, Italy. He designed a poster for the Barcelona Olympics (1992) and a stamp for the World Cup in Italy (1990).

He was also awarded in China for the world's best stamp design of 2005.

KARL was laureate at the Cartoonfestival Knokke-Heist (1986) and the Karikaturale in Hoeilaart (1987 and 1989).

In 2011, he won the Grand PCE Prize (Press Cartoon Europe), and in 2020 the PCB (Press Cartoon Belgium).
